Minister Directs Highlighting Of KP Indigenous Products

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 24th Oct, 2023) KP Caretaker Minister for Industries, Commerce and Technical education (IC&TE), Dr Aamir Abdullah Tuesday directed the authorities concerned to highlight the indigenous items of the province including agriculture products and locally famous edibles in the market.
He issued these directives while presiding over a meeting regarding ‘Business and Trade Strategy 2020’ for the promotion of the local and indigenous products of the province here at Civil Secretariat.
Besides, Secretary IC&TC, Syed Zulfikar Ali Shah, Director General (DG) Industries & Commerce and Manager, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa board of Investment & Trade (KP-BoIT) and other authorities concerned also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the provincial minister was given a detailed briefing regarding the industrial and commerce strategy and informed about its different aspects.
Various proposals for the development of special indigenous products and culturally important goods for export purposes also came under discussion during the meeting.
The minister also directed the completion of the process of resource mapping of the products produced at the district level and furnishing a report to him regarding central, northern and southern districts in this regard.
He, on this occasion, also directed the activation of the one-window portal established in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Investment and Trade under the name of easy business for the promotion of local business opportunities.
He further directed the inclusion of the remaining departments in the process as soon as possible and assigned the task of contacting the concerned departments in this regard to the Secretary Industries and Commerce.
The caretaker minister also directed organizing of trade and handicrafts fairs and festivals in the big cities of the province to promote the locally produced items.
The provincial minister directed the Directorate of Industries and Commerce to initiate measures to register unregistered trade bodies and associations in various districts and in the first phase identify those deprived of registration and then formally register them.
On this occasion, he directed the authorities concerned to contact the Federal government regarding the restoration of Peshawar -Landi Kotal railway track and suggested that this project should be restored under public-private partnership, which plays a vital role in the promotion of trading activities at a local level.
The caretaker minister also directed to send case National Technical and Vocational Training Commission (NAVTTC) to include important courses like data mining, olive processing and business intelligence in the curriculum.
