HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 27th Oct, 2023) The Hyderabad police on Friday shot dead an alleged smuggler of crystal meth and other narcotics, Sajjad Khan Sawati, who was wanted by the police in several cases, during an encounter within the jurisdiction of the Tando Yousuf police station.
The police spokesman informed that the Tando Yousuf police conducted a raid in the Badin Charlie area after receiving information about Sawati’s presence. He claimed that when the police reached the area, they were engaged in an exchange of fire. According to him, Sawati sustained a fatal gunshot wound and died on the spot.
The spokesman said the slain suspect was wanted by the police in many cases. He expressed hope that the sale of crystal meth would be severely affected in Hyderabad because of Sawati’s death.
In another incident, the SITE police arrested two suspects during an encounter near the Zeal Pak Colony area, with one of them injured and sustaining a bullet wound to his leg.
The spokesman said that the SITE police engaged in an exchange of fire with four suspects riding on two motorcycles. He added that two of the suspects, identified as Ali Muhammad Mallah and Asif Yousufzai, were arrested in the encounter, but their accomplices managed to escape.
The injured Mallah was later transported to Liaquat University Hospital (LUH) for surgery of his bullet wound. The spokesman mentioned that the police were tracing the criminal record of these two suspects. He also stated that two pistols and a motorcycle were recovered from their possession.
