1. Dua for Hardship and adversity
In times of hardship and adversity, turn to the power of dua to seek solace and guidance. When everything seems wrong, dua can be a valuable tool that can provide comfort and strength during these challenging times.
The first dua is straight from the Quran in Surah Anbiya Ayat 87, where it says,
Transliteration: “la ilaha illa anta subhanaka inneekuntu mina aththalimeen”
“And ˹remember˺ when the Man of the Whale stormed off ˹from his city˺ in a rage, thinking We would not restrain him. Then in the ˹veils of˺ darkness he cried out, “There is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except You. Glory be to You! I have certainly done wrong.””
Also, Anas bin Malik (RAA) said:
“Whenever a matter would distress him, the Prophet (ﷺ) would say:
يَا حَىُّ يَا قَيُّومُ بِرَحْمَتِكَ أَسْتَغِيثُ
‘O Living, O Self-Sustaining Sustainer! In Your Mercy do I seek relief (Yā Ḥayyu yā Qayyūm, bi-raḥmatika astaghīth).’” And with this chain, that he said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Be constant with: “O Possessor of Majesty and Honor (Yā Dhal-Jalāli wal-Ikrām).’” [Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3524, also Narrated by an-Nasai in as-Sunan al-Kubra (6/147) and in ‘Amal al-Yawm wa’l-Laylah (no. 46)]
2. Dua for Health and Well-Being
Seeking dua for health and well-being is a powerful way to find solace and guidance when everything seems wrong. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) encouraged believers to seek healing through dua and to have faith in Allah’s mercy.
When you are in distress, ask Allah for His blessings and mercy by reciting,
“Lā ilāha illallāh al-`Aẓīmul-Ḥalīm, lā ilāha illallāh Rabbu ‘l-`Arshi ‘l-‘Aẓīm, lā ilāha illallāh Rabbus-samāwāti wa Rabbu ‘l-arḍ wa Rabbu ‘l-`Arshi ‘l-Karīm.”
Meaning: “There is none worthy of worship but Allah, the Mighty, the Forbearing. There is none worthy of worship but Allah, Lord of the Magnificent Throne. There is none worthy of worship but Allah, Lord of the heavens and Lord of the earth, and Lord of the Noble Throne.” [Al-Bukhari 8/154, Muslim 4/2092]
Also you can recite,
“Allāhumma ‘innī ‘a`ūdhu bika mina ‘l-ḥammi wa ‘l-ḥuzn, wa ‘l-`ajzi wa ‘l-kasal, wa ‘l-bukhli wa ‘l-jubn, wa ḍala`id-dayn, wa ghalabatir-rijāl.”
Meaning: “O Allah, I seek refuge in you from grief and sadness, from weakness and laziness, from miserliness and cowardice, from being overcome by debt and overpowered by men (i.e. others).” [Al-Bukhari 7/158. See also Al-Asqalani, Fathul-Bari 11/173]
3. Dua for Overcoming Financial Difficulties
If you’re facing financial difficulties and find yourself in desperate need of relief, turn to Allah through dua to overcome these challenges. Begin by acknowledging that Allah is the ultimate provider and sustainer.
Ask for His assistance by reciting,
“Allāhummak-finī biḥalālika `an ḥarāmik, wa ‘aghninī bi faḍlika `amman siwāk.”
Meaning: “O Allah, suffice me with what You have allowed instead of what You have forbidden, and make me independent of all others besides You.” [At-Tirmidhi 5/560. See also Al-Albani, Sahih At-Tirmidhi 3/180]
4. Dua for Resolving Interpersonal Conflicts
When faced with interpersonal conflicts during adversity, turn to Allah through dua to seek resolution and guidance. Remember that conflicts are a part of life, but how we handle them can make all the difference.
Pray for wisdom and understanding to approach the situation with patience and empathy.
“Allāhumma lā saḥla illā ma ja`altahu saḥla wa anta taj`alu ‘l-ḥazna idhā shi’ta saḥla.”
Meaning: “O Allah, there is no ease other than what You make easy. If You please You ease sorrow.” [Ibn Hibban in his Sahih (no. 2427), and Ibn As-Sunni (no. 351). Al-Hafidh (Ibn Hajar) said that this Hadith is authentic.]
Through this dua, you can find strength, clarity, and the ability to navigate difficult interpersonal conflicts with grace and humility.
