Fatherhood, indeed, is a divine blessing, a beacon of guidance and support in life’s journey. My father, lovingly known as Aba Jan, embodied the essence of paternal love and wisdom. His departure from this world on February 28th, 2019, left an indelible mark on my heart, prompting me to reflect on his profound influence and legacy.
Aba Jan was a man of remarkable caliber—a sufi poet and a dedicated gardener. His passion for gardening was innate, a manifestation of his deep connection with nature. He found solace and purpose in planting fruit trees and nurturing chinar trees, believing that such acts were not merely deeds but forms of worship and charity. His altruistic spirit touched many lives as he generously distributed fruit trees to people, leaving behind a legacy of greenery and abundance.
Despite lacking formal education, Aba Jan possessed a wealth of wisdom and insight. He would often summon me to transcribe the poems that flowed effortlessly from his soul. His verses resonated with profound truths and timeless beauty, drawing inspiration from the mystical traditions of Sufism. When asked about the source of his words, he would simply smile, his silence speaking volumes about the divine inspiration that fueled his creativity.
Aba Jan’s encouragement and unwavering support nurtured my own aspirations and dreams. His humble demeanor and unwavering faith served as guiding beacons, illuminating the path of spiritual growth and self-discovery. Inspired by his legacy, I embarked on a journey to explore and celebrate the anonymous Sufi saints of Kashmir, fueled by his words of encouragement and belief in my abilities.
Advised me that it is tough work. After Historian Hassan and Mohammad Din Fouq nobody has started an initiative in this dirrection. Aba Jan had faith in me He knew that I will acomplish this task. I have written more than 1000 historical prospectives on such anonymous sufi saints of Kashmir. The credit goes to my father who appreciated and encouraged me.
He wrote poems about brotherhood, peace, hormony, love, devotion and pain. His poems are unparallel in all respects.
Noted Kashmiri poet Abdul Ahad Jamsheed writes about my Aba Jan:

Aba Jan remained steadfast in his devotion, never wavering in his commitment to prayer and reflection. Even as he faced the inevitability of mortality, his spirit remained resilient, finding solace in the beauty of nature and the power of poetic expression. His parting words, immortalized in heartfelt poems, serve as a testament to his enduring legacy of love and wisdom.
بمبرن گں گں مے گو کنن کیا تام ونان اوس

Today, as I gaze upon the fruit trees and chinar trees he so lovingly tended, I am reminded of Aba Jan’s presence and the profound impact he continues to have on my life. His metaphors and similes, his poetic diction, echo in the whispers of the wind and the rustle of leaves, a timeless reminder of his enduring spirit.
In honoring Aba Jan’s memory, I pay tribute not only to a beloved father but to a visionary poet, a humble gardener, and a guiding light whose presence continues to enrich my life with love, wisdom, and inspiration.
