Dua for Solar Eclipse (Dua at the Time of Solar Eclipse)
The Solar Eclipse in Islam is viewed as a symbol of the greatness of Allah.
The solar eclipse is a common celestial event. It occurs when the Sun passes the moon between the Earth and the sun. This phenomenon blocks the Sun’s light, which results in varying degrees of darkness during the day.
In old times, the occurrence of a solar eclipse came with its own myths. Individuals related the solar eclipse to different life events, such as death or birth.
Solar Eclipse in Islam
The Holy Prophet’s peace be upon him has clearly stated that the solar eclipse is a sign of Allah. He stated that it has nothing to do with someone’s death or birth.
The beloved Prophet also guided in times of the solar eclipse. He instructed the believers to pray and turn to Allah in supplication as the eclipse occurs.
Dua for Solar Eclipse
During the occurrence of a Solar Eclipse, it is recommended to seek forgiveness from Allah.
One should frequently recite Istighfar, or the dua of forgiveness, in particular.
Prayer for Solar Eclipse
The prayer of the solar eclipse has been known from the name Salat-ul-Khusuf. The prayer of eclipse can be performed by following the steps stated below:
- Make an intention to pray Salat ul Khusuf and start the prayer by saying Takbir.
- Recite Surah Fatiha, followed by the recitation of any lengthy Surah from the Quran.
- Bow deeply and remain in the position of bowing for an extended period.
- Recite Surah Fatiha again, followed by a long recitation. This recitation should be shorter than the former one, though.
- Go into the bowing position, and then proceed to prostrate twice.
- The second rakat can be prayed in the same way. However, this time the actions can be shorter than the previous ones.
The prayer that the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him, performed during the eclipse consisted of two prostrations and four bows. By the end of the prayer, the solar eclipse was over.
As per the Hadith in Sahih Bukhari, the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him, reacted actively during the solar eclipse.
He recited the Quran and was engaged in extended bowing and prostration. He would seek forgiveness from Allah and advise his believers to do the same.
