Is OFFICIAL TRUMP Coin halal?

I don’t think meme coins are haram in principle. There is nothing morally wrong with buying something with zero objective value or utility. Fancy buying a pet rock? Knock yourself out.

So long as you’re not causing harm to yourself or to others.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “There should be neither harming of self nor causing harm to others.” (Arabic: Lā ḍarar wa lā ḍirār)

When it comes to Trump Coin, it is evidently a pump-and-dump scheme. With at least 80% of the supply controlled by insiders, it was launched around the inauguration with zero transparency, making insider trading not just a possibility but a certainty.

The issue here is not the meme coin status itself but the markings of a pump-and-dump and the inevitable financial harm it will bring holders when the hype dies down.

Whether or not investors are aware of the risks and willingly participate in what is essentially a game of musical chairs with their money is beside the point.

Your understanding that an investment will end in a dump on holders is what makes it haram for you to partake in.

By participating, even if you manage to escape yourself, you are setting others up for loss. This violates the “causing harm to others” the prophet pbuh forbade.
