Indonesia’s national carrier Garuda Indonesia has secured a three-year Cooperation Agreement (PKS) contract with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah to transport Hajj pilgrims from 2026 through 2028, ensuring capacity and reduced costs for Hajj pilgrimage.
The agreement, signed December 17 with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, guarantees fleet availability and operational efficiency across three upcoming Hajj seasons.
Indonesian Hajj Minister Mochammad Irfan Yusuf signed 3-year PKS with Garuda Indonesia President Director Glenny Kairupan in Jakarta on Dec 17, 2025, securing aircraft fleet and seats for regular pilgrims and kloter officers.
Hajj Minister thanked Indonesia’s Air Transport Dir General for pilgrim flight coordination, working closely with Aircraft Ops/Maintenance, Airports, and Aviation Security directorates.

The contract includes fare reductions of up to 1 million rupiah (approximately $64) per pilgrim compared to previous arrangements.
For the 2026 season, Garuda will dedicate 15 wide-body aircraft to transport approximately 102,000 pilgrims, with similar allocations planned for subsequent years.
The wide-body fleet, including Airbus A330 and Boeing 777 aircraft, will operate direct routes between Indonesian cities and Saudi airports serving Makkah and Medina.
With over 200,000 Indonesians performing Hajj annually, the contract covers approximately half of the national quota through Garuda’s services.
