Prophet Dhul Kifl (Ezekiel peace be upon him)
Dhul Kifl, also known as Ezekiel, was a prophet mentioned in Islamic and Christian traditions. His name means “the owner of the fold”, and he was known for his wisdom and teachings to his people. It is said that he was sent by Allah to the people of Israel to guide them towards righteousness. His story is narrated in the Quran, where it is mentioned that he was one of the prophets who received the Book (Qalam) from Allah. He was steadfast in his faith despite facing many trials and hardships. Dhul Kifl was known to be a miracle worker and to have healing powers. According to Islamic tradition, he passed away while he was in a state of prostration, and Allah had lifted his soul to the heavens. He is buried in a place in Iraq which is called the Shrine of Dhul Kifl. Dhul Kifl is mentioned as an honorable prophet in the Quran (Chapter 21, Verse 85), alongside other prophets such as Ibrahim, Ismail, Ishaq, Yaqub, Nuh, Dawud, Sulaiman, Ayyub, Yunus, Zakariya, Yahya, Isa, and Muhammad.
The following Quranic verses mention the prophet Dhul Kifl peace be upon him.
Sura Anbiya Ayah (Verse) 85-86
٨٥ وَإِسْمَاعِيلَ وَإِدْرِيسَ وَذَا الْكِفْلِ ۖ كُلٌّ مِنَ الصَّابِرِينَ
85 And Ishmael, and Enoch, and Ezekiel; each was one of the steadfast.
٨٦ وَأَدْخَلْنَاهُمْ فِي رَحْمَتِنَا ۖ إِنَّهُمْ مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ
86 And We admitted them into Our mercy. They were among the righteous.
Sura Saad Ayah (Verse) 48-54
٤٨ وَاذْكُرْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ وَالْيَسَعَ وَذَا الْكِفْلِ ۖ وَكُلٌّ مِنَ الْأَخْيَارِ
48 And mention Ishmael, Elisha, and Ezekiel; all are among the outstanding.
٤٩ هَٰذَا ذِكْرٌ ۚ وَإِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ لَحُسْنَ مَآبٍ
49 This is a reminder. The devout will have a good place of return.
٥٠ جَنَّاتِ عَدْنٍ مُفَتَّحَةً لَهُمُ الْأَبْوَابُ
50 The Gardens of Eden, with their doors wide-open for them.
٥١ مُتَّكِئِينَ فِيهَا يَدْعُونَ فِيهَا بِفَاكِهَةٍ كَثِيرَةٍ وَشَرَابٍ
51 Relaxing therein, and calling for abundant fruit and beverage.
٥٢ وَعِنْدَهُمْ قَاصِرَاتُ الطَّرْفِ أَتْرَابٌ
52 With them will be attendants with modest gaze, of same age.
٥٣ هَٰذَا مَا تُوعَدُونَ لِيَوْمِ الْحِسَابِ
53 This is what you are promised for the Day of Account.
٥٤ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَرِزْقُنَا مَا لَهُ مِنْ نَفَادٍ
54 Such is Our bounty, inexhaustible.
