Why Muslim Women’s Day 2024 is a Sentimental One
Marking its eighth anniversary this year, Muslim Women’s Day 2024 synchronizes with Ramadan for one of the last times of our contemporary era.
In commemoration of Muslim Girl founder Amani’s mother, Iman Al-Khatahtbeh — whose deeply felt loss has turned tides within our editorial and served as a wake-up call for all of us to cherish each moment together and celebrate each other while we still can, we are introducing this year’s theme: “Iman” (i.e., faith) to honor the name of Amani’s mother, who left us in July 2023 and passed down the generational strength, wisdom, and willpower of womanhood that we treasure and live by every day.
Our chosen theme for this year is our collective testament to the intersectionality of March 2024 for Muslim Girl. By design, faith is a far-reaching theme that invites us all to reflect on the compelling ways that faith surfaces in different facets of our lives — from self-care, beauty, and fashion, to social justice, girls’ education, career empowerment, and beyond — and drives us to tap into the much-needed discourse around motherhood and the pure mother/daughter/child relationship.
Organized by Muslim Girl, along with our high-level partners, #MuslimWomensDay is a global campaign launched in response to the Muslim Ban in 2017 and has become the biggest media day of the year to empower Muslim women’s voices and stories.
The Theme
“SAY HER NAME”

Who does not know a Muslim mother who radiates like a sun and lights up elegantly like a serene moon? Whether she is physically present with us in this world or eternally alive in your heart, say her name and its meaning to let the world know how her name shaped who she is!
If she is still physically around you, tag her and give her the chance to take pride in what the concept of “Iman” means to her — or tell everyone on her behalf.
This year, we are turning our individual and collective voices into bustling echo chambers with the #SayHerName initiative. This is your chance to make this year’s #MuslimWomensDay your pinnacle moment to openly show your love, devotion, and support to any Muslim mother that you know.
OFFICIAL ARTIST
Keep your eyes peeled, your feed refreshed, and your notifications on because this year, we are partnering up with the renowned award-winning artist Sara Shakeel for our official artwork this Muslim Women’s Day.
Do you think the artwork will be adorned with glistening paint and glimmering jewels? Or do you think it will be more MG-branded with the classic #ff0099 hue? Take a guess and stay tuned for the results!

- Reshare, repost, and celebrate Muslim mothers on social media while adding the hashtags #Iman #Faith #MuslimMothers #SayHerName;
- Share articles that spotlight the stories and experiences of Muslim women and girls around faith, spirituality, self-care, beauty, and other similar niches; and
- Dedicate a message to celebrate Muslim mothers you know, say their names and their meanings, and share what the term “Iman” (faith) means to them.
