Bella Hadid to Sue Adidas Over the Olympics Campaign
Bella Hadid is preparing to take legal action against Adidas, alleging the company launched a harmful campaign and failed to publicly acknowledge its responsibility. Sources close to the situation revealed to TMZ that she has hired a legal counsel to address the issue.
The controversy centers on Adidas’ recent campaign featuring Hadid for the SL72 sneaker, originally introduced for the 1972 Munich Olympics. The campaign has faced backlash from the State of Israel due to the historical context and Hadid’s pro-Palestinian stance, slandering her for being anti-Semitic.
In response to the State of Israel’s tweet, Adidas apologized and announced revisions to the campaign. “We are conscious that connections have been made to tragic historical events — though these are completely unintentional — and we apologize for any upset or distress caused,” Adidas said in a statement issued via email.
Adidas has been met with calls for boycotts on social media. Our Muslim Girl founder Amani emailed the CEO on Saturday to address the matter promptly once and for all.
Sources confirm that Hadid is still under contract with Adidas. She states that she was misled by the campaign’s direction as it conflicts with her personal views and that she was unaware of its historical implications when she agreed to participate, holding Adidas responsible for not adequately informing her about the potential repercussions.
Adidas is yet to comment on the entire situation.
