Ruqyah Of Nabi, Prophet Muhammad(PBUH)
Ruqyah of Nabi, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
I would like to share with you the Ruqyah of Nabi (Prophet Muhammad pbuh) compiled by Shaykhul-Ḥadīth, Ḥaḍrat Mawlānā Muhammad Saleem Dhorat (ḥafiẓahullāh) Rabī‘ul-Ākhir 1442 / December 2020
What is Ruqyah ?
‘Ruqyah’ is the practice of treating illnesses through Qur’ānic āyāt, and invocations prescribed by the Messenger of Allah swt. It is a means of cure for evil eye, magic, jinn and physical ailments.
The Qur’ān offers complete solace to a believer both spiritually and physically. Ruqyah should therefore play an essential role in our lives. Allah swt says, “And say: The truth has come, and falsehood has vanished. Surely falsehood is ever bound to vanish by its very nature. And We send down in the Qur’ān that which is a cure and a mercy for the believers” (17:81-2).
As well as providing a means of cure, ruqyah is an excellent way for the believers to build their īmān and reaffirm their tawḥīd for Allah swt. This is because seeking treatment through the Glorious Qur’ān undoubtedly demonstrates complete belief in the Book of Allah swt.
Ruqyah of Nabi
During illness, it is the desire of the sick and their dear and near ones that a cure is found. Every effort is made to achieve this by adopting various treatment methods. Dua for the sick
The only way of truly succeeding in this endeavor is to turn to Allāh swt and beseech Him, for He is the only Being Who grants a cure and it is He alone Who allows any medical treatments to have an effect.
Although one may ask Allāh S for a cure using his own words, there can be no better way than to use the words taught to us by our Beloved Nabī s. It is for this reason the du‘ās made by our Beloved Nabī s for a cure have been collected from the treasure trove of Aḥādīth.
The du‘ās can be recited by:
- The person suffering from illness;
- Family members and carers of the sick or Those visiting the sick
Benefit from the Ruqyah in the following ways:
- The sick may recite the du‘ās, then blow on the palms of their hands and pass them over the whole body or the affected area.
- Someone else may recite the du‘ās and blow over the sick.
- One may also recite the du‘ās and blow into some water for the sick to drink.
- It is also sufficient to simply recite the du‘ās.
- One can use this ruqyah as many times as one desires, with the minimum being once in twenty four hours.
One should try to recite as many du‘ās as possible. It is not necessary to recite all of them to acquire benefit, but the more one recites, the better it is.
May Allāh Swt grant us the ability to value these du‘ās derived from the Blessed Aḥādīth. Āmīn.
