Happy is the Person – Abdur Rahman’s Corner
Peace, one and all…
Beloved Dhu al-Nun al-Misri said:
‘Happy is the person whose heart’s watchword is scrupulousness, whose heart is purified of lust, and who reckons with his self in everything he does’
Attar, Memorials of God’s Friends
One of the most beautiful things about the words of the awliya is their usefulness. They are a kind of spiritual technology, pointing to helpful attitudes and practices. In this case, what comes through clearly is that true happiness is only achieved through constant effort against our desires and inner self-examination. These practices offer the possibility of liberation, of true freedom, of lasting happiness.
And praise be to God who maketh it so.
