Instructor Wisam Sharieff Arrested for Child Abuse With His Student
Quran instructor Wisam Sharieff is currently awaiting trial after his wife submitted circumstantial evidence that allegedly implicates him in child exploitation. The evidence, which reportedly includes disturbing content found on Sharieff’s phone, led to an investigation by federal authorities.
The crime is confirmed to have occurred over a private Telegram thread, where Sharieff convinced his female online student that engaging in sexual acts and reaching orgasm would help her and her daughter “get closer to Allah” stating that she had been “lied to by men for so long.”
The arrest followed a 10-page affidavit submitted by FBI Agent Eric C. Salvador, which included chat records later deemed “clear and convincing evidence” by a magistrate judge under 18 U.S.C. Section 2251(a) and (e) for conspiracy to produce child pornography.
The case has sent shockwaves through the Muslim community, leading to a strong and divided response. Several prominent organizations and affiliates, including AlMaghrib Institute, have severed ties with Sharieff, condemning the alleged actions and distancing themselves from his involvement.
The FBI’s forensic investigation also found that they had been since engaging in adultery online, with the woman sending videos of herself and her daughter watching pornography and masturbating so that he would assess “how far they were progressing on their quest to become closer to Allah.”
AlMaghrib Institute also launched an investigation after learning of the allegations and subsequently released a statement of Sharieff’s termination. “AlMaghrib Institute’s own investigation concluded there was sufficient evidence violating AlMaghrib Institute’s code of conduct to terminate the instructor’s employment and immediately publicly disclosed it.,” the statement read.
As of now, no specific trial date has been set for Wisam Sharieff’s case, as legal proceedings are still in progress.
