The God Summit 2025: Taking On the Greatest Questions of Our Existence
Artificial intelligence, robots, self-driving cars – the world is rapidly changing right before our eyes. Modern-day technological and secular advancements have altered the landscape of how people around the world approach life.
Take belief for example; recent surveys show that as of 2023, 62% of people self-identify as religious. But how important of a role does religion actually play in their lives?
According to Gallup, 53% of people around the world in 2013 said that religion plays an important role in their lives. A decade later, that number dropped to 45%. On the other hand, atheism has been on the rise; in 2013, 13% of people around the world identified as non-religious, with that number grew to 25% by 2023.
Interestingly, a majority of the world still does believe in the existence of God at 72%. which is an increase of 1% from 2016.
Though the numbers vary, they starkly point towards the fact that there is a conversation to be had. That is the very conversation which The Review of Religions, a global comparative religions multi-media platform is aiming to have.
What started as a monthly print magazine in 1902 (and is still in print to this day), The Review of Religions has been working to make the conversation about God relevant again, something they made clear with the establishment of a section called The Existence Project in 2021. The section aims to open channels of dialogue and explore the existence and relevance of God in today’s world.
These efforts culminate in The Review of Religions’ marquee event, the global God Summit – a live, two-day virtual conference streamed on The Review of Religions YouTube channel, aimed at having conversations and telling real-life stories about God.
Syed Amer Safir, Chief Editor of The Review of Religions explains the inspiration behind the event:
‘The God Summit came about through the inspiration of the repeated guidance of the Fifth Caliph and Worldwide Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad (aba) The event aims to provide a unique platform for an international discussion about the existence of God, over the course of a weekend.’
The event has been held twice previously, with a combined viewership of over 300,000 around the world.
This year, after a break of over two years, the God Summit is back and will be streamed live on January 25 & 26, on The Review of Religions YouTube channel.
So, what can viewers expect for the return of the God Summit?
‘Having entered 2025, the world continues to change at a rapid pace,’ says the Chief Editor. ‘We have tried to reflect this in our approach to the content for the third global God Summit.’
Along with inspiring personal stories and engaging talks, the organisers have indicated the new addition of social experiments to the upcoming God Summit. With preparations in full-swing, all that remains is for viewers to tune in and, as The Review of Religions puts it, have the ‘biggest questions of your existence’ answered.
